Workshops
The Gathering this year sees the return of our Workshops—practical, focused sessions designed to equip and strengthen you for ministry in your local context. Whether you’re serving in leadership, volunteering in a specific area or simply looking to grow in how you contribute to the life of your church, these Workshops are created with you in mind.
Led by experienced practitioners from across our movement, each session will offer practical insights, tools, and encouragement that can be carried back into your own ministry setting. From leadership and discipleship to pastoral care and mission, our diverse range of Workshops aims to support the real, everyday work of serving God’s people.
We encourage churches to consider inviting non-delegate attendees to join in these sessions—creating an opportunity for more people in your community to be equipped, encouraged, and resourced for ministry. Find your venue below and click through to explore the Workshops available at your location, so you can plan your day at The Gathering in a way that best suits your needs.
Friday
Ministry and Learning Centre - Main Venue
Presenters: Craig Corkill & David Starling
Presenter: Steve Rodda
Presenters: Church Multiplication Team
Leading in today’s world can be complex, uncertain, and demanding – especially when the pressure doesn’t let up. Many leaders carry decision fatigue and a quiet sense of overwhelm beneath the surface.
This workshop offers a chance to pause, make sense of the pressure you’re carrying, and regain your bearings. You’ll be introduced to a simple, practical framework to help you refocus in challenging situations, along with tools to reduce overwhelm and strengthen your wellbeing.
You’ll come away with greater clarity under pressure and a renewed sense of direction – so you can keep leading with greater peace and steadiness.
Presenter: Krystyna Kidson
Krystyna Kidson is the Resident Psychologist for the Baptist Association, and works as a speaker, coach, and professional supervisor supporting Christian leaders and professionals in high-responsibility roles across ministry, work, and everyday life.
Through her private practice, her work with the Association, and her doctoral research at the intersection of theology and psychology, Krystyna helps leaders recognise and dismantle the often-invisible internal pressures that shape how they think, lead, and live.
Her work equips leaders with greater clarity, resilience, and a deeper sense of peace – so they can lead well, care for others sustainably, and remain grounded in what matters most.

Can rank outsiders really be reconciled to God instantly? Shouldn’t they serve some kind of probation first? How can we be true to the gospel of grace and still have a safe, healthy church that makes strong disciples? This workshop looks at aligning our pathways and processes with the gospel we preach.

Saturday
Ministry and Learning Centre - Main Venue
An interactive session based on Mike’s new book and Doctoral research regarding how leaders can grow healthy rhythms and practices that enable them to lead from an overflow and health as they seek to mobilise their church communities into living into God’s mission.
Presenter: Mike Stevens
Hi, I’m Mike! I have been a follower of Jesus since 1992 and a church pastor since 2005. Prior to being a church pastor, I was a high school physical education teacher. I’m married to Michelle and have three wonderful young adult children. In my church pastoring work, I have worked in small to large churches and also consulted with churches in a state denominational role. Since 2017, I’ve been the Lead Pastor at Clovercrest Baptist Church in Adelaide, Australia. Over the years I have taught at Bible College; spoken at conferences; authored a youth ministry book to train youth leaders called The Glue; and also completed my Doctor of Ministry, focussing on God’s missional heart that all people would be in relationship with Him.
This interactive workshop exposes the true cost of fast fashion and challenges participants to rethink how faith and justice show up in everyday choices. Backed by nearly 10 years of Baptist World Aid’s Ethical Fashion Report, this session pulls back the curtain on how our clothes are made, who wears the cost, and why our everyday choices matter.
Presenters: Kate Devlin and Betty Kent (Baptist World Aid)
Kate Devlin and Betty Kent work with Baptist World Aid Australia to address poverty and injustice through partnership. Kate serves as the State Partnership Manager for NSW & ACT, leading work with churches, schools, and major donors, driven by her conviction that the Church is God’s answer to a world in need. Betty is a Supporter Engagement Coordinator, connecting with donors each day and motivated by a deep belief in human dignity and action guided by Micah 6:8.
Presenter: Andrei Mocanu

Belair Baptist Church - Hunter
Our light is bright, but is it hidden under a bowl? How to work through the subtle and not-so-subtle ways we can tend to keep our church for people like us and people we like. How can we ensure our churches are visible, inviting and truly joinable for every searching prodigal? And how does such attention to attraction interact with our practices of missional church?
